Contract Marketing Coordinator - Pac-12 Conference (San Francisco, CA)

The Pac-12 Conference has a tradition as the “Conference of Champions,” earning more than 180 NCAA team titles over the past 20 years, and has led the nation in NCAA Championships in 44 of the last 50 years. With more than 120 Nobel Laureates across all of its campuses and 471 NCAA Championships, the “Conference of Champions” is synonymous with both academic excellence and athletic success.

The Pac-12 Conference comprises 12 leading U.S. universities: The University of Arizona, Arizona State University, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Colorado, the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Stanford University, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, the University of Utah, the University of Washington, and Washington State University.

Position Summary
The contract marketing coordinator will operate under the guidance of the Marketing Director and he/she will support the Marketing Team in meeting business plans for the Centennial Celebration Campaign, the Cross Country Championship, Football Championship VIP Tailgate Party and help prepare to launch the campaign Follow the Pack-12 to Rio. This is an Independent Contractor Position.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Conference Marketing team to create and execute all Pac-12 events;

    o Assisting in all aspects of event production including contracting, vendor relations and event recaps.

  • Assist with concept, development, design and production Conference events & campaigns (Centennial Celebration campaign, Cross Country Championship, Football Championship Game and Follow the Pac-12 to Rio campaign)

  • Foster a “best practice” mentality to share with Pac-12 schools at the institution level based on events managed during contracted time

  • Assist in the development and production for various meetings

  • Assist with management of signage / collateral / merchandise / props library

  • Assist with ordering premium items / gifts / wardrobe / f&b procurement

  • Assist with all event shipping needs

  • Assist with event permitting details / planning / execution

  • Assist with direction and organization of band & spirit squad schedules and needs

    for Pac-12 events

  • Assist with comprehensive event recaps to place media value on Pac-12 branding


  • Other tasks as assigned.

Key Competencies/Requirements

The successful candidate must exhibit a passion for intercollegiate athletics and ability to pursue innovative opportunities for the Pac-12 while upholding the Conference’s rich traditions and academic heritage.

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years event planning / agency experience

  • B.A. required – recommended in Communications, Communication Arts,

    Marketing or Sports Marketing fields (or other degree or equivalent)

  • Highly pro-active, results driven and motivated

  • Organized with an acute attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a diplomatic communicator

  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the team

  • Strong Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Strong Google skills (Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar)

  • Works well with internal and external clients

  • Dependable, Creative and Innovative

  • Sense of urgency and able to solve problems on the spot

  • Comfortable in leading and influencing others

  • Must be available to travel, work weekends and evenings when needed and lift /

    carry items that are 40 lbs. or less
