Operations Manager - Pac-12 Conference (San Francisco, CA)

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning and executing aspects of Pac-12 Conference major championship events. The Operations Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations. This position works closely with highly motivated teams, Pac-12-Networks, Pac-12 membership and event partners and vendors. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional operations and sports experience, coupled with extraordinary management, supervisory and motivational skills.

Major Responsibilities:

-      Manage defined responsibilities of the Pac-12 Conference Football Championship, annual Pac-12 China Basketball Game and Men’s Basketball Tournament; including but limited to:

-      Event Documentation 

-      Facility and Vendor Relations

-      Transportation Logistics

-      Shipping Logistics

-      Event Calendar

-      Compile, compose and publish event documents to analyze and summarize event activities

-      Develop best practices to enhance the functionality of Pac-12 events

-      Provide internal departments and outside vendors with necessary pre-event and post-event instruction and communication

-      Facilitate the ongoing coordination among member schools to ensure the effective, efficient and safe operation of event activities

-      Research vendor and competitor’s costs as it pertains to event planning

-      Manage the Pac-12 Conference event calendar

-      Prepare budgets relative to event operations

-      Manage integral aspects of other Pac-12 Conference Championships

-      VP of Communications

-      Director of Business Operations

-      Senior Manager, Events & Marketing

-      Pac-12 Sports Management Team

-      Pac-12 Digital Team

-      Member institution Event Managers

-      3rd Party Vendors


The successful candidate must exhibit a passion for intercollegiate athletics and ability to pursue innovative opportunities for the Pac-12 while upholding the Conference’s rich traditions and academic heritage.

-      Bachelor’s Degree required – Sports Management degree preferred

-      5+ years of experience coordinating major college or professional sporting events

-      Knowledge of college sports and the Pac-12 Conference, its member institutions and sponsored sports

-      Proven ability to plan and manage multiple events and projects, in different stages, concurrently

-      Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally

-      Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under deadline pressure

-      A proven leader what is comfortable and confident in leading teams to meet goals; an influencer and is known as a team player

-      Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required

-      Proficient skills in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator) desired

-      Extensive travel 30%+, including weekends and evenings when needed

-      Must be able to roll up sleeves and work in a fast-paced environment and lift / carry items that are 40 lbs. or less
