On July 1, 2009, Larry Scott joined the then Pac-10 Conference as its sixth Commissioner, succeeding Tom Hansen who had been in the role the previous 26 years. Over the past 6 years Commissioner Scott has led the transformation and evolution of the Conference into a nationally and internationally recognized collegiate sports brand. In July 2011, the Pac-10 officially became the Pac-12 Conference with the addition of the University of Colorado and the University of Utah.

The Conference has a tradition as the “Conference of Champions,” earning more than 175 NCAA team titles over the past 20 years, and has led the nation in NCAA Championships in 46 of the last 52 years. Report to: Pac-12 Coordinator of Football Officiating or such other person designated by the Pac-12 Conference.

Assignment Summary: We are seeking qualified candidates for part-time contract on-field official and replay official assignment to officiate Pac-12 football games.

Major Responsibilities:

·       Officiate Pac-12 Conference football games, may include any or all of the following: spring and fall scrimmages, Pac-12 Conference football games, non-Conference games, Pac-12 Football Championship Game and possible post season bowl games.

·       Comply and be bound by the constitution and by-laws, rules and regulations of the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference.

Key Competencies:

·       Highly skilled official; must have a minimum of 5 years of football officiating experience with a thorough understanding of collegiate rules, interpretations and 8-person mechanics.

·       Prior experience in a similar capacity expected.

·       Be physically fit in a condition to successfully perform the services required on a continuing basis.

·       Understanding of college sports.

·       Must have exceptional positive attitude and team based philosophy.

·       Must have exceptional oral / written communication and interpersonal skills.

·       All candidates pass a background check.

Senior Manager, Events & Marketing - Pac-12 Conference (San Francisco, CA)

The Senior Manager, Events & Marketing is responsible for developing and executing marketing plans for all Pac-12 Conference events, championships and initiatives. With over 40 Pac-12 championships, events and meetings, this position has a direct impact on the growth of the brand, the experience of the student-athlete and opportunity to showcase the Conference of Champions.

This position works closely with highly motivated teams, Pac-12 Networks, Pac-12 membership and event partners and vendors

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing roadmap for the Pac-12 Conference to drive the Conference’s growth strategy
  • Create and launch Conference events and Championships as effective promotions for the brand; creating media and communications value while enhancing the experience for student-athletes
  • Produce marketing / PR campaigns that achieve specific goals and objectives of the Conference across all sports (i.e. Community platform, Title IX Anniversary)

Event Management

  • Collaborate with Conference departments to create and launch 40+ Pac-12 events, meetings and championships from concept through production
  • Run Community platform and produce community events
  • Manage annual event and campaign budget
  • Liaise with Pac-12 Digital and Communication departments regarding new media implementation at Pac-12 events
  • Assist with hotel partner coordination, ticket, credential, parking pass allocation and distribution for Pac-12 events
  • Direct the organization of band & spirit squad schedules, team media appearances and other PR related event needs
  • Partner with ticketing / marketing planning and execution for Football Championship Game and Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournaments
  • Work with Sponsorship team to develop & execute new partner and sponsorship activation opportunities at Conference Pac-12 events
  • Oversee event production timelines, run of show, scripting and all elements necessary to produce Pac-12 events

Branding & Collateral

  • Oversee Graphic Designer and supervise creative development to support initiatives and events; logo development, web design, merchandise, special event / championship needs, video content, etc.
  • Manage event facility and uniform branding for regular season & championships.
  • Control Uniform Branding  (as per outlined in our style guide) as lead liaison with twelve institutional Equipment Mangers to ensure brand compliance.
  • Preside over signage / collateral / merchandise / props library for Conference events
  • Manage 3rd party vendors and contracts for events, including RFP process

Management & Leadership

  • Manage a Graphic Designer
  • Provide energetic leadership
  • Serve as lead marketing liaison role with Pac-12 member institutions’ Marketing Senior Managers to support and integrate marketing activities and facilitate best practices and execute aggressive and proactive annual campaigns
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Candidate Specifications: Key Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree required –Communications, Communication Arts, Marketing or Sports Marketing preferred
  • Sports knowledge required
  • Must have 7+ years of event planning / agency experience
  • Fields
  • Proven ability to plan and manage multiple events and projects, in different stages, concurrently
  • A proven leader what is comfortable and confident in leading teams to meet goals; an influencer and is known as a team player
  • A concise and clear communicator; super organized; creative problem solver
  • Strong Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook. PowerPoint), Photoshop, AutoCAD, Illustrator, event management software a plus
  • Extensive travel 40%+, including weekends and evenings when needed.

Must be able to roll up sleeves and work in a fast-paced environment and lift / carry items that are 40 lbs. or less
